University of Salerno engineer achieves top honors for energy transition research

Luigi Gatto, an engineering graduate from Cetara, has earned a Master’s degree in Electronic Engineering with highest honors (110 e Lode) from the University of Salerno.

His thesis, titled ‘Impact of DTR in resolving network congestion in the era of energy transition’, addresses critical challenges in managing electrical infrastructure during the integration of renewable energy sources. The research utilizes Dynamic Thermal Rating (DTR) to analyze how real-time assessment of line thermal capacity can resolve grid congestion, reduce waste, and improve electrical system resilience.

The project was supervised by Professor Vincenzo Galdi and supported by Dr. Francesco Del Pizzo.
