University of Siena joins Kenya healthcare cooperation protocol

The University of Siena has officially joined a healthcare cooperation protocol between the Azienda Ospedaliero-Universitaria (Aou) Senese and the North Kinangop Catholic Hospital in Kenya. This agreement formalizes the university's involvement in a partnership that has existed for over twenty years.

A key outcome of this adhesion is that medical residents from the University of Siena will now be able to participate in international healthcare missions in Kenya. Rector Roberto Di Pietra stated that the move consolidates international collaboration by combining medical assistance, training, and the exchange of experiences. He noted that these missions offer residents a concrete opportunity to engage with diverse healthcare contexts, enhancing both their professional and human growth.

The formalization took place during an event titled ‘Twenty years of collaboration with the North Kinangop Catholic Hospital, a balance for the future’ at the Aou Senese teaching center. Attendees included hospital administrators, university leadership, and Don Sandro Borsa, the administrator of the Kenyan hospital.
