University of Siena to host presentation on Sardinian pastoral migration

A new volume titled ‘Pastori Migranti. Mezzo secolo di pastorizia sarda nel centro Italia. Ricerche e prospettive’ will be presented at the University of Siena on October 7. The book examines the social, economic, and cultural aspects of Sardinian pastoral migration toward Central Italy over the last fifty years.

The presentation is organized by the Circolo Peppino Mereu APS in collaboration with the University of Siena’s Department of Social, Political, and Cognitive Sciences. The initiative aligns with the United Nations' designation of 2026 as the International Year of Rangelands and Pastoralists. The event aims to disseminate scientific research on pastoral migration and strengthen cooperation between academic institutions, government bodies, and migrant associations.
