University of South Carolina reports record enrollment and new scholarships

The University of South Carolina is reporting record-setting enrollment figures and new athletic scholarship recipients. The university’s overall student population has reached approximately 41,650, with total system enrollment exceeding 60,300 students. The incoming freshman class includes roughly 7,800 students representing 45 states and 41 countries.

President Michael Amiridis noted that the increase in applications and enrollment reflects the perceived value of a USC degree. The university saw a 64 percent increase in prospective student applications compared to five years ago.

In addition to academic growth, University of South Carolina Athletics has announced the 2026-27 recipients for 28 endowed scholarships. These awards span seven sports and the cheer team, including baseball, men’s and women’s basketball, football, women’s golf, men’s soccer, and track and field.
