University of Southern California names David Madigan as provost
The University of Southern California (USC) has appointed David Madigan as its next provost and executive vice president for academic affairs. Madigan, an internationally recognized statistics scholar, is scheduled to assume the role on October 13.
Madigan succeeds Andrew Guzman, who announced his departure in May. Guzman will remain in his current position until the transition and will subsequently return to the faculty at the Gould School of Law. The USC Provost Search Committee unanimously recommended Madigan for the position.
Madigan brings extensive leadership experience from several major research institutions, having previously served as provost at Northeastern University and in senior roles at Columbia University, Rutgers University, and the University of Washington. At USC, he will hold the Shelly and Ofer Nemirovsky Provost’s Chair and will maintain faculty appointments in the Marshall School of Business, the Keck School of Medicine, and the Dornsife College of Letters, Arts and Sciences.
