University of St. Thomas student withdraws following viral confrontation

A student at the University of St. Thomas has announced her withdrawal from the institution and issued a public apology following a viral video of a confrontation with an activist.

The incident occurred during a Turning Point USA event at the University of Minnesota. In the footage, which has garnered millions of views on social media, the student is heard telling an individual, “Go back to your country, bitch.” The video led to widespread accusations of racism and prompted planned protests on the university campus.

Eyewitnesses have characterized the activist involved, Derek Torstenson, as using provocative tactics to incite reactions. The student stated in a written apology that she takes full responsibility for her behavior, noting that she should have handled the situation with respect regardless of the circumstances.
