University of Talca celebrates 45 years of academic growth

The University of Talca (UTalca) commemorated its 45th anniversary with a ceremony at the Lircay Campus. Founded on October 26, 1981, through the merger of regional branches of the University of Chile and the Technical University of the State, the institution has expanded significantly.

Currently, the university serves over 13,000 undergraduate and postgraduate students across five campuses located in the Maule, O’Higgins, and Metropolitan regions. The institution holds a seven-year accreditation from the National Accreditation Commission (CNA), the highest level awarded.

University Rector Arcadio Cerda Urrutia highlighted the institution's commitment to research and innovation, noting that between 2019 and 2026, the university was awarded 297 Fondecyt projects. The university continues to focus on internationalization and strengthening its scientific and academic presence both nationally and globally.
