University of Talca defines six research macroprojects
The University of Talca’s UNE Project (FIU Frontera) has established six strategic research macroprojects designed to address regional needs in the Maule, Ñuble, and O’Higgins areas. These macroprojects were identified following an academic meeting involving over 100 researchers who analyzed 185 research and development initiatives.
The six identified areas are:
• International Center for Mediterranean Territory Studies • Mesoregional Platform for Healthy Aging • Maule Energy Transition and Sustainable Building Pilot • Agrofuturo Centro Sur • Educational Innovation Platform • Precision Medicine and Territorial Health Data Center
Each macroproject will be led by a responsible academic tasked with fostering interdisciplinary research and securing funding. University Rector Arcadio Cerda Urrutia stated that the project is moving into a phase that will allow for more efficient work and clear results to benefit the Maule Region. Academic Vice-Rector Lina Uribe Vélez noted that the initiative aims to bridge historical gaps in research, development, and innovation with both national and international impact.
