University of Talca opens community walking paths at Campus Lircay

The University of Talca has inaugurated ‘UTalcamina’, a series of four walking paths within its Campus Lircay designed to promote physical activity and healthy living habits. The paths, which range from 800 meters to 1.1 kilometers in length, are open to both the university community and the general public.

The routes begin at the north and south entrances of the campus and converge at the Botanical Garden, passing through landmarks such as the Plaza de los Artistas and the Sculpture Park. To enhance the experience, each path features an information totem providing details on distance and the benefits of walking, as well as QR codes that allow visitors to identify local flora species.

The initiative was driven by students from the Nutrition and Dietetics and Medicine programs following training from the Ibero-American Network of Health Promoting Universities. The project received funding from the Vicerrectoría de Desarrollo Estudiantil (VDE) and support from the institution’s Health Promotion Program.
