University of Tartu Hospital to hold Tervex 2026 crisis drill

The University of Tartu Hospital will conduct the Tervex 2026 crisis drill on September 22, 2026. The exercise is designed to practice managing mass casualty situations where the number and severity of injuries exceed standard medical resources.

A specific focus of this year's drill is providing emergency care for children. The full-day exercise will be carried out in cooperation with the Tartu Ambulance Service, the Estonian Rescue Board, and the security firm G4S. While the drill is underway, the hospital will maintain its regular medical services.

Dr. Veronika Reinhard, head of the Anesthesiology and Intensive Care Clinic, noted that the drill aims to improve staff readiness, practice triage under pressure, and enhance inter-unit cooperation. Dr. Jaan Sütt, a member of the hospital management, emphasized that the exercise serves to review crisis plan activation, bed capacity planning, and the management of medical supplies and equipment.
