University of Tehran president denies use of morality police on campus

The President of the University of Tehran, Mohammad Hossein Omid, announced during a press conference that the institution will not employ morality police (Guidance Patrol) on campus. He emphasized that the university aims to resolve issues through dialogue and negotiation rather than enforcement, expressing hope that students will respect the university's status and adjust their conduct accordingly.

Addressing past student unrest and disciplinary issues, Omid noted that some previous tensions stemmed from university decisions and national social trends. He confirmed that disciplinary councils have reviewed cases of misconduct, including two students who were initially expelled for insulting the national flag. He stated that students have the legal right to appeal disciplinary rulings and that the university is committed to reviewing cases carefully to ensure both legal standards and individual rights are respected.
