University of the Republic study examines dental clinical teaching

Dr. Adriana Núñez, a professor at the University of the Republic, has conducted research into how clinical teaching in dentistry contributes to the preventive-assistance model within the Uruguayan healthcare system.

The study focused on dental operative teaching across the second, third, and fourth years of the dentistry program. By analyzing curricular documents and conducting interviews with students and faculty, the research examined the alignment between established educational goals and actual clinical practice. While the prescribed curriculum shows coherence with the preventive-assistance model, the study noted challenges in practical clinical application.
