University of Thessaly advances precision agriculture via AGRILABS

The Networks and Telecommunications Laboratory at the University of Thessaly is focusing on precision agriculture to modernize the primary sector. By utilizing satellite remote sensing, field sensors, data analysis, and robotic systems, the laboratory aims to develop innovative solutions that support informed decision-making in agricultural production.

These technological advancements are intended to optimize natural resource management, reduce production costs, and limit the environmental impact of farming practices. A key component of this initiative is the AGRILABS project, which consists of Agricultural Living Laboratories spanning approximately 800 acres in Larissa.

Funded by the Ministry of Development through the General Secretariat for Research and Innovation, the AGRILABS project is overseen by the Rector of the University of Thessaly, Charalambos Billinis. The project serves as a dynamic environment for demonstration, training, and experimentation, bridging the gap between scientific research and the practical needs of agricultural producers.
