The Student Council of the University of Thessaly has called for urgent security enhancements following a robbery in which a 24-year-old student was threatened with a knife in the Gaiopolis area of Larissa.

To ensure the safety of students and staff, the Council is requesting several measures, including the implementation of modern access control systems for university buildings, the installation of security cameras in common areas and at entry and exit points, and increased security presence to allow for rapid response to incidents. The Council emphasized that they are not seeking a closed university, but rather one that is open, modern, and safe.

The Council noted that the Greek Ministry of Education has already announced similar security measures for universities nationwide and urged the university administration to move from announcements to practical implementation.
