University of Tokyo Metaverse Engineering offers free junior courses summer 2026

The University of Tokyo’s Metaverse Engineering Department is running six free online junior courses for elementary, middle and high school students during the 2026 summer break. The program includes a traffic‑congestion simulation game, introductory and advanced sessions on generative AI for students, parents and teachers, a virtual‑classroom VR experience, a soft‑matter science workshop, and a design‑thinking course using SHIAWASE‑AI.

Since its launch in September 2022, the department has delivered more than 120 courses to over 55,000 participants. All courses are free, held mainly online, and open to anyone in Japan. Registration is handled through the department’s official website, with spots allocated on a first‑come, first‑served basis.
