University of Tuzla celebrates 50 years of academic operation

The University of Tuzla is celebrating its 50th anniversary, marking five decades of academic contribution to society. A formal academy is scheduled for December 18, 2026, at the Mellain Hotel in Tuzla, serving as the centerpiece of a series of jubilee events that began in June.

To commemorate the milestone, the university has collaborated with BH Pošta to release special jubilee postage stamps and plans to publish a monograph titled ‘50 Years of the University of Tuzla’ in October. Since its founding in 1976, the institution has grown to include 12 faculties and one academy, offering 123 study programs across various scientific and humanistic fields.

Despite the challenges posed by the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina between 1992 and 1995, the university continued to function and expand. Rector Prof. Dr. Amir Karić highlighted the institution's significant human capital, noting that it has produced over 50,000 alumni, including thousands of master's and doctoral graduates.
