University of Tuzla hosts GEAR project results conference
The results of the GEAR (Gender Equality in Academia and Research) project were presented at a regional conference held at the University of Tuzla. The Erasmus+ project, co-financed by the European Union, involves ten partners from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Montenegro, Serbia, Slovenia, and Lithuania.
Key outcomes of the three-year initiative include the development of gender equality plans for four Western Balkan universities. The University of Tuzla has adopted a specific plan for the 2026–2029 period. The project also established ‘Girls in Science’ centers, including a center at the University of Tuzla’s Faculty of Electrical Engineering to support female students' scientific potential.
To address the gender gap in STEM fields, the project produced educational brochures on critical thinking and work-life balance. Additionally, a mentorship program successfully connected 40 female students with 30 mentors, conducting a total of 95 sessions across the project.
