University of Udine launches international nursing training program
The University of Udine has launched an international partnership with the Italian University Institute (IUNIR) of Rosario to address nursing shortages in Italy. Supported by the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, the project will begin in the next academic year and aims to provide equivalence pathways for nursing graduates.
The initiative will host 15 graduates from Argentina and students from Ghana, allowing them to enroll in nursing degree programs in Italy. To facilitate this, the regional government will fund expenses for housing, food, health insurance, and intensive Italian language training.
In exchange for this support, participants must adhere to specific academic and professional requirements. These include earning at least 60% of annual credits and committing to enter regional health service competitions within three years of graduation. Once employed, participants must work within the Friuli Venezia Giulia healthcare system for a minimum of five years.
