University of Urbino presents STOA project to preserve Fano dialect
The University of Urbino is presenting the results of the STOA project in Fano, an initiative focused on the preservation and revitalization of the local dialect as intangible cultural heritage. The project aims to safeguard the Balducci and Dini archives, which consist of analog recordings at risk of being lost.
Professor Chiara Celata, the project coordinator, will discuss the vitality of the dialect by comparing historical archive material with recent interviews conducted with younger generations in Fano’s port and peripheral areas. The event includes a “sound walk” through the port area, using recovered audio stories to guide participants through historical and cultural sites.
Additional programming includes a lecture by Professor Luciano Aguzzi on the history of Fano dialect poetry and a presentation by writer Elvio Grilli regarding a new educational project for primary schools. This initiative seeks to engage students in rediscovering local traditions through the reading of tales and stories written in the local vernacular.
