University of Valparaíso develops inclusive maps and 3D neuroscience kits
The FabLab at the University of Valparaíso (UV) has developed an inclusive, multisensory map for the 2026 Science and Technology Festival. Organized by the Ministry of Science, Technology, Knowledge and Innovation, the map will be used at the Expo for Disability and Dependency. The tool integrates Braille, 3D-printed components, and NFC technology, allowing users to access audio information via mobile devices to assist with orientation for those with visual impairments.
Additionally, the Millennium Institute Interdisciplinary Neuroscience Center of the University of Valparaíso (CINV-UV), in collaboration with FabLab UV, presented a 3D pedagogical kit at the FALAN 2026 Congress. This kit features 16 three-dimensional models, including scaled reproductions of brains, skulls, and neurons, designed to facilitate neuroscience education in schools and community settings. The initiative aims to foster scientific interest through interactive learning.
