University of Valparaíso launches enteral feeding training for educators

The University of Valparaíso has launched a specialized training course focused on the management and care of enteral feeding for children and adolescents. The program is being delivered to thirty officials from the Local Public Education Service (SLEP) of Valparaíso and Juan Fernández.

Developed by the university’s schools of Nursing, Speech Therapy, and Nutrition and Dietetics, the twenty-hour course combines theoretical instruction with practical activities. The initiative was prompted by requests from educational communities seeking better tools to safely support students with special nutritional requirements.

In addition to enteral feeding management, the curriculum includes a workshop on resuscitation and the management of airway obstructions caused by foreign objects. Academic leaders noted that the interdisciplinary approach aims to provide a comprehensive solution to complex health challenges arising within the local educational system.
