University of Vermont athletics see draw in soccer and win in field hockey

The University of Vermont athletic teams saw mixed results in Friday competitions. In men's soccer, No. 18 Charlotte and No. 7 Vermont played to a 2-2 draw. Charlotte overcame two separate one-goal deficits, with Natsuki Ogata scoring an equalizer in the second half and Larry Noel finding the net in the 79th minute to secure the draw.

In field hockey, the Vermont Catamounts opened their season with a 5-2 victory over Northeastern. Veerle Nijhuis led the scoring with two goals, supported by goals from Gabby Santini, Alicia Battistelli, and Isi McMahon. Northeastern attempted a late comeback with goals from Jessica Garden and Isi McMahon, but could not overcome the deficit.
