University of Verona leads €8M Revive-Cap project to prevent pneumonia complications

The University of Verona, in collaboration with the Integrated University Hospital of Verona, is leading Revive-Cap, a new Horizon Europe project designed to understand, predict, and prevent cardiovascular complications occurring during and after pneumonia.

The project received an eight million euro funding and achieved a maximum evaluation score of 15 out of 15 among 104 proposals. Spanning 48 months, the initiative involves 18 international partners from nine countries: Italy, the United Kingdom, Spain, the United States, Switzerland, France, Germany, Poland, and Romania.

Coordinated by Professor Evelina Tacconelli, the consortium integrates expertise in infectious diseases, cardiology, epidemiology, artificial intelligence, clinical research, data management, and health economics. Professor Flavio Ribichini will collaborate on the cardiological components of the study. The ultimate goal is to identify high-risk patients earlier to implement preventative measures.
