University of Victoria hosts startup and venture showcase

The University of Victoria's Faculty of Engineering and Computer Science hosted a Startup Showcase on September 24, drawing approximately 200 attendees to the Engineering Lab Wing. The event featured nearly 20 booths showcasing various ventures originating from the university.

Exhibitors included faculty-led companies such as Voxcell, Xlynx, and AY Sensors, alongside ventures founded by students and alumni like Sepura and Interlude. The showcase included two panel discussions: one focused on entrepreneurship featuring local leaders and serial entrepreneur Philipp Hertel, and another addressing research commercialization, intellectual property, and the transition of ideas from laboratory settings to the market.
