University of Virginia athletics report mixed results across multiple sports

University of Virginia (UVA) student-athletes competed in several matchups across various sports on September 11 and 12, 2026.

In volleyball, UCF defeated Virginia in straight sets (25-22, 25-21, 25-21) in Orlando. UCF's Avah Armour and Natasha Casey each recorded ten kills, while Casey added seven aces to secure the win for the Knights.

In field hockey, the No. 11 Virginia team secured a 2-1 victory over No. 13 Liberty. Mia Abello scored the opening goal, and freshman Caitlin Connell netted her first collegiate goal late in the third quarter to seal the win.

In men's soccer, Virginia overcame an early deficit to defeat Liberty 3-2 at Klöckner Stadium. AJ Smith scored two goals, including a chip from 20 yards, and Abanfo provided the decisive goal.

In women's soccer, the No. 10 Virginia team prepared to open ACC play against No. 3 Wake Forest following recent draws against Tennessee and Georgetown.
