University of Western Macedonia seeks support for 268M euro investment plan

The Rector of the University of Western Macedonia, Professor Theodoros Theodoulidis, has requested government support for the institution's upcoming three-year development phase. During a meeting with Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis in Thessaloniki, the Rector emphasized the need for technical assistance to transition the university's large-scale projects from the planning stage to implementation.

The university's investment program exceeds 268 million euros and includes more than 50 projects and sub-projects, such as new student residences and a new School of Fine Arts in Florina. The initiative aims to position the university as a European reference point for green applied research, innovation, and a fair developmental transition.

The university is focusing on three national priorities: energy transition, productive transformation, and digital sovereignty. This includes strategic collaborations with entities such as the Public Power Corporation (DEI) to advance green energy, storage, and digital innovation in the Western Macedonia region.
