University of Wyoming Spirit Squad debuts boots for mental health awareness

The University of Wyoming Spirit Squad has debuted new game-day looks featuring Western wear and custom cowboy boots. These boots were provided by the Jae Foundation in late September 2026.

The initiative serves as a platform for mental health awareness. The Jae Foundation was established following the 2016 suicide of Jae, with the goal of fostering conversations to prevent depression and suicide. The foundation's mission is rooted in the idea that simple gestures can facilitate life-saving connections.

Wyoming has reported a suicide rate of 27.8 per 100,000 residents, which is among the highest per-capita rates in the United States.
