University of Wyoming student accused of poisoning colleague
Aili Wang, a 32-year-old microbiology student at the University of Wyoming, has been arrested for allegedly attempting to poison a fellow researcher. The victim, a doctoral student from Vietnam, began experiencing extreme fatigue, insomnia, and neurological symptoms in August after noticing a strange taste in the tea prepared in his desk's coffee maker.
Authorities report that 63 milligrams of acrylamide, a chemical capable of causing severe neurological damage, were found in the device. Investigators allege that Wang purchased the substance via eBay and subsequently requested the deletion of her account. Surveillance footage reportedly shows Wang rinsing the victim's cup with liquid from her own container.
Wang was apprehended at Los Angeles International Airport on October 6 while allegedly attempting to return to China. In addition to the poisoning allegations, authorities are investigating whether she photographed scientific documents related to cancer research. The victim continues to suffer from concentration issues and loss of sensation in his hand.
