University of Zaragoza launches bicycle mobility plan in Huesca
The University of Zaragoza has introduced a new mobility strategy in Huesca to promote bicycle use among the university community. The initiative, presented during European Mobility Week, focuses on three main pillars: the BiciUnizar application, a bicycle loan system, and financial aid for purchasing bicycles.
BiciUnizar is a free application that allows students, faculty, and staff to earn points for cycling between their homes and campus buildings. These points can later be exchanged for prizes. To track these trips, the university has installed five antennas across the Huesca Campus, paired with beacons on participating bicycles.
Additionally, the university will provide urban bicycles, including both electric and conventional models, through a loan system for those without their own transport. The university also announced subsidies covering up to 80% of the cost for those looking to acquire a bicycle.
