University student arrested for apartment intrusion and assault in Kyoto

A 20-year-old university student from Hirakata, Osaka, was arrested by the Kyoto Prefectural Police on suspicion of trespassing and causing injury through non-consensual indecent acts.

On the evening of October 6, the suspect allegedly entered an apartment building in Fushimi Ward, Kyoto, by slipping through an automatic lock behind a resident. He reportedly approached a 31-year-old woman on an emergency staircase and touched her upper body. When the woman attempted to stop him by grabbing his bag, the suspect allegedly bit her fingers, causing injury. The suspect was apprehended at the scene after nearby residents intervened following the woman's cries for help. He has reportedly admitted to the charges, stating he followed the woman from the station because she was his type.
