Unleashed pays tribute to late Venom frontman Cronos in Athens

Swedish death metal band Unleashed paid tribute to the late Venom frontman Conrad ‘Cronos’ Lant during a concert in Athens, Greece. On October 7, at the Gagarin 205 venue, the band performed a cover of the Venom classic ‘Countess Bathory’ to honor Lant’s legacy.

Lant, a foundational figure in heavy metal, was the sole remaining member from Venom’s classic era in his recent lineup. Following the announcement of his death, Unleashed vocalist Johnny Hedlund shared a social media message expressing the profound influence Lant’s aggression and stage presence had on his own musical journey.

Venom, formed in Newcastle, England, is credited with helping establish the foundations for thrash, black, and death metal. The band’s recent studio album, ‘Into Oblivion’, was released in May.
