Unlicensed spa operator charged with homicide in NYC anti-aging injection death

Luis Rojas Cabrera, 55, has been charged with homicide following the death of 27-year-old Elizabeth Baron at the Bereshit Lifestyle Center in the Riverdale section of Manhattan. Authorities stated that Baron died in July after receiving an injection of NAD+, a molecule used in trendy anti-aging treatments, which resulted in cardiac arrest.

Rojas Cabrera, who is not licensed to practice medicine in the United States despite holding credentials in the Dominican Republic, was initially arrested in July on charges of reckless endangerment and unauthorized practice of a profession. Prosecutors upgraded the charges to homicide following the results of Baron’s autopsy.

Investigators noted that Rojas Cabrera has two prior arrests, including an incident involving the attempted importation of medical supplies. While the NAD+ treatment has gained popularity among high-end wellness consumers and celebrities, medical experts have raised concerns regarding the safety of unregulated administration.
