Unna district launches winter cycling initiative

The “Frostpendeln” initiative in the Unna district is encouraging residents to continue cycling during the winter months. Running from early November through the end of February, the campaign aims to demonstrate that bicycles remain a viable alternative to cars even in cold weather.

Participants, including the team “Kreis Unna united,” can use standard bicycles, pedelecs, or S-pedelecs for commuting to work, school, or leisure activities. The program also serves as an opportunity for cyclists to gain experience with winter riding, such as selecting appropriate clothing and equipment for cold, wet, and dark conditions. For the first time this year, a dedicated app is available to track kilometers traveled. Residents of Lünen and the surrounding area are invited to register via the official website.
