UNNE law professor charged with sexual abuse in Corrientes
A law professor at the Universidad Nacional del Nordeste (UNNE) in Corrientes, Argentina, has been formally charged with simple sexual abuse following a complaint by a student. The investigation, handled by the Unidad Fiscal de Investigaciones Concretas N° 9, stems from an incident reported on June 9 that allegedly occurred during an informal social gathering outside of academic settings.
According to the complainant's lawyer, Martín Ríos, the professor is accused of making non-consensual physical contact and using improper language. The investigation also includes testimonies from two other students who reported patterns of systematic harassment.
In response to the allegations, UNNE has suspended the professor from his teaching duties in the Faculty of Law and Political Science. During the formalization hearing, the accused submitted a written statement but declined to answer questions from the prosecution or the legal counsel for the complainant. He remains free under specific conduct guidelines while the investigation continues to collect forensic and testimonial evidence.
