Unnes freshman dies in traffic accident amid orientation schedule scrutiny

An 18-year-old freshman at Universitas Negeri Semarang (Unnes), Rivaldo Aulia Reza, died following a single-vehicle traffic accident on August 12, 2026, in Semarang. The accident occurred on Jalan Mr Koesbiyono Tjondrowibowo in the Gunungpati district.

The incident has drawn scrutiny regarding the university's orientation schedule (PKKMB). Reports indicate that during the second day of orientation, students were required to be on campus by 03:00 WIB.
