UNODC experts arrive in Conakry to strengthen tobacco control
Experts from the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), based in Dakar, are conducting a working mission in Conakry from October 19 to 23, 2026. The mission aims to strengthen Guinea's national framework for combating tobacco and its derivatives.
The experts are working to map the various structures and actors involved in tobacco control, identify their specific needs, and evaluate existing field interventions. A primary goal is to provide concrete recommendations to improve the effectiveness of the national system through better coordination between government institutions and civil society organizations.
Representatives from civil society, including the NGO Génération Sans Tabac led by President Ibrahima Sory Cissé, are participating in the initiative to support the mobilization of anti-smoking efforts across the country.
