Unoesc celebrates 30 years as a university and honors Aristides Cimadon

Unoesc (Universidade do Oeste de Santa Catarina) celebrated 30 years of accreditation as a university and 58 years of institutional history during a ceremony in Joaçaba. The event included the launch of a commemorative book and the conferral of the “Doutor Honoris Causa” title upon former rector Professor Aristides Cimadon, recognizing his decades of dedication to regional education and development.

Since receiving its university status via a Ministry of Education decree on August 14, 1996, Unoesc has expanded its presence to 12 municipalities in western Santa Catarina. The institution currently offers 44 undergraduate courses, various specializations, and four postgraduate programs in Law, Administration, Biosciences and Health, and Education. Over its history, more than 100,000 students have graduated from the university, which currently serves approximately 23,000 students.
