Unprecedented lack of Atlantic hurricanes noted by climatologist
Climatologist Simeon Matev has noted an unprecedented atmospheric situation where no Atlantic hurricanes have formed since the beginning of the current season. Matev stated, “Never in history have we had such a situation.”
This anomaly is attributed to record-strength El Niño conditions, which create high-altitude atmospheric dynamics that prevent hurricane formation in typical regions. This unusual Atlantic situation is expected to influence European autumn weather. While October was previously expected to be warmer, forecasts now suggest temperatures will remain near seasonal norms with above-average rainfall.
Bulgaria is currently experiencing complex weather patterns. A cyclone originating in the Ionian Sea is moving east toward the Black Sea. In an unusual retrograde movement, the system is expected to turn west rather than continuing toward Georgia, influencing Bulgarian weather from Tuesday to Thursday with increased cloud cover and precipitation. The Black Sea coast may see significant rainfall of approximately 20-30 liters per square meter.
