Saprissa and Alajuelense draw 0-0 in Costa Rican national classic

Deportivo Saprissa and Liga Deportiva Alajuelense played to a scoreless draw during the 14th round of the 2026 Apertura tournament. The match, held at the Ricardo Saprissa stadium, saw Saprissa dominate much of the first half, though they lacked the clinical finishing required to break the deadlock.

Alajuelense increased their offensive pressure during the final stages of the second half. Saprissa goalkeeper Abraham Madriz was widely credited as the standout performer, making several decisive saves in the closing minutes against attempts from Ronaldo Cisneros, Kenyel Michel, and Celso Borges to preserve the clean sheet.

The result leaves Saprissa in third place with 25 points, while Alajuelense sits in fourth with 23 points. Both teams remain in the hunt for the title, though the draw allows leaders Cartaginés and Sporting FC to maintain their advantage at the top of the table.
