unreleased launches ‘Support Real Artists’ campaign against AI music
The event format unreleased has launched the ‘Support Real Artists’ campaign, uniting over 100 musicians to protest the rapid rise of AI-generated music. The initiative highlights the growing divide in the industry, where major corporations like Warner Music and BMG are forming licensing deals with AI platforms such as Suno and Udio, while independent artists fight to protect their livelihoods.
Data cited in the campaign underscores the scale of the issue. According to a study by Ipsos for Deezer, 97 percent of respondents could not distinguish between ‘real’ and AI-generated music. Furthermore, Deezer reported that more than half of all uploads on its platform are now AI-generated, with daily uploads reaching over 90,000 tracks.
Economic concerns are also central to the movement. A study by GEMA and Goldmedia suggests that the advancement of AI music could lead to a 27 percent loss in revenue for musicians by 2028. Additionally, 71 percent of musicians surveyed expressed concerns regarding the security of their income due to the influx of artificial content.
