UNSE researchers warn of impact from scientific defunding

Researchers at the Universidad Nacional de Santiago del Estero (UNSE) have raised concerns regarding the impact of budget restrictions on the Argentine scientific and university systems. During the Science, Technology, and Innovation Day, academics and students highlighted how defunding affects project development, working conditions, and the training of new researchers.

Celeste Schnyder, director of INDES, noted that these constraints interrupt the daily operations of institutions and the academic trajectories of students and scholarship recipients. Researchers emphasized that the reduction in funding is particularly critical for younger generations, as fewer scholarships are available, potentially hindering the future of scientific and technological development in the country.
