Rača border crossing and new bridge to open October 15
A new integrated border crossing and bridge at Rača, along with a section of the new highway, are expected to be operational by October 15, provided technical conditions are met. To facilitate this, a 700-meter temporary access road is being constructed to connect the existing Bijeljina–Rača main road with the new highway and the bridge over the Sava river.
Radovan Višković, acting director of the public enterprise “Autoputevi Republike Srpske”, noted that the temporary road was necessary because the planned 20-kilometer section from Rača to Bijeljina is not yet complete. Once the new crossing opens, the existing Rača border crossing will be downgraded to a local crossing intended only for residents in the immediate area.
Financing for further highway expansions has been secured through two agreements with the China Exim Bank. These funds are designated for the Bijeljina–Brčko (17 km) and Brčko–Vukosavlje (30.5 km) sections. The contractor has one year to complete technical documentation, with a total construction timeline of three years for these segments.
In a separate infrastructure development, the Federal Ministry of Culture and Sports has allocated 600,000 KM for projects in Hadžići. This includes 400,000 KM for the reconstruction of the FK Radnik Hadžići stadium stands and 200,000 KM for a children's playground in the Osenik settlement.
