UNSW Business School opens applications for PhD Summer Institute

The UNSW Business School has opened applications for the fifth annual PhD Summer Institute (PhDSI5), scheduled for 19 March 2027 in Sydney, Australia. The event is designed for PhD students specializing in international trade (JEL classifications F0–F2) and industrial organisation (L0–L5).

Participants will have the opportunity to present both theoretical and empirical research to senior scholars and fellow students. Each accepted paper will be assigned a senior discussant to provide detailed feedback, helping researchers refine their methodology and arguments for the academic job market.

The institute is strategically positioned the day before the Australasian Trade Workshop (ATW20), also hosted by UNSW. This allows participants to engage with a broader network of policymakers, industry practitioners, and established researchers. While attendance is free, the organizers do not provide financial assistance for travel or accommodation.
