UNTDF conducts archival workshops at Virginia Choquintel Museum

The National University of Tierra del Fuego (UNTDF) is conducting an archival management workshop for staff at the Virginia Choquintel Municipal Museum in Río Grande. This initiative aims to train personnel in the management, preservation, and promotion of the institution's photographic heritage.

The workshop is part of the ongoing project “Imágenes y memorias colectivas: patrimonialización del archivo fotográfico del Museo Virginia Choquintel,” which has been active since 2023. Funded by the “ImpaCT. AR Ciencia y Tecnología” program from the Ministry of Science, Technology, and Innovation, the project focuses on the research, inventory, conservation, and digitization of both analog and digital photographic materials.

Representatives from the Institute of Culture, Society, and State (ICSE) recently met with museum authorities to discuss the project's progress and the renewal of their specific agreement. As the project enters its final stage, the new agreement will incorporate museum staff into university training sessions to ensure the continuity of technical knowledge and internal institutional capacity.
