Untirta hosts Food Security Symposium 2026 in Banten

The Faculty of Agriculture at Universitas Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa (Untirta) hosted the Food Security Symposium 2026 in Serang, Banten. The event, themed ‘Advancing Food Security through Agro-Maritime Strategies and Innovations’, serves as an international academic forum to discuss sustainable food systems by integrating agricultural and marine resource management.

Banten Vice Governor Achmad Dimyati Natakusumah attended the symposium, expressing support for the initiative and encouraging collaboration to transform Banten into a regional food granary. He noted that the discussions provide essential references for government, farmers, and industry stakeholders to achieve food independence.

The hybrid symposium included approximately 180 participants, including researchers from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN), academics, and students from various institutions such as Universitas Gadjah Mada and Universitas Andalas. Untirta Rector Prof Fatah Sulaiman stated that the research focus aligns with both provincial and central government priorities regarding food security.
