Unusa students launch health and waste bank programs in Surabaya
Students from Universitas Nahdlatul Ulama Surabaya (Unusa) conducting their Community Service Program (KKN) in RW 02, Kapasari, Surabaya, have implemented several community-focused initiatives.
In the health sector, the team conducted medical screenings for residents aged 30 to 70. The results, which identified high instances of sugar, uric acid, cholesterol, and hypertension, were provided to the Kapasari Health Center (Puskesmas) to facilitate medical interventions. The students also provided education on healthy lifestyles and hygiene for children.
In environmental and economic efforts, the students launched an integrated waste bank program in partnership with CV Logis Nawi. This initiative aims to create a circular economy by collecting sorted waste for resale, providing additional income for local residents. Additionally, the program includes digital cataloging for local MSMEs to improve their market exposure.
