Unusual legal cases highlighted in German courts
Legal experts have highlighted several unusual judicial cases in Germany. In one instance, a man in Munich committed a burglary to cover debts accumulated at a local pizzeria. After stealing several thousand euros, he returned the next day to pay his bill and treated all other customers to pizza. The restaurant owner became suspicious and alerted the police. The man, who was under the influence of cocaine at the time of the crime, received a one-year suspended prison sentence from the Munich District Court.
In another case, the Osnabrück District Court addressed a dispute involving a high-priced dressage horse. A US-based equestrian center operator purchased a horse in Germany for 710,000 euros, but later discovered significant performance and behavioral deficiencies. The case raised legal questions regarding whether an excessively high purchase price renders a contract void due to immorality.
