UP Board mandates APAAR ID for students in classes 9 to 12

The Uttar Pradesh Madhyamik Shiksha Parishad (UPMSP) has mandated the creation of the Automated Permanent Academic Account Registry (APAAR) ID for all registered students from classes 9 to 12. This initiative aligns with the central government’s ‘One Nation, One Student ID’ goal under the National Education Policy (NEP 2020).

The APAAR ID is a unique 12-digit digital identifier that remains constant even if a student changes schools, cities, or states. It serves as a centralized digital repository for academic records, including marksheets, passing certificates, and roll numbers, as well as extracurricular achievements such as sports, NCC, and NSS certifications.

While the ID is intended to streamline admissions, scholarship applications, and document verification via platforms like DigiLocker, the board clarified that students without an ID will not be prevented from board registration or exam applications. For minor students, parental consent is required to complete the registration process.
