UPA and Deoleo Launch Sustainable Olive Grove Awards in Spain

The Union of Small Farmers and Ranchers (UPA) and olive‑oil group Deoleo announced the 2026 "Sustainable, Living and Innovative Olive Grove" awards in Madrid. The programme aims to spotlight best practices that combine profitability with environmental stewardship, climate‑change mitigation, biodiversity and rural development in the Spanish olive sector.

Two prize categories will be granted: one for individual or collective olive‑farm management projects that improve soil, water use, biodiversity and social inclusion, and another for collective initiatives that enhance oil quality, energy efficiency, governance and the valorisation of by‑products. Applications from growers, cooperatives, mills and related entities can be submitted online until 15 September 2026.

The awards seek to encourage diffusion of successful models that address the sector’s economic, ecological and social challenges, and to promote broader adoption of innovative, sustainable techniques across Spain’s olive‑growing regions.
