UPAEP Rector Jorge Medina Delgadillo urges students to maximize talent

Jorge Medina Delgadillo, the Rector of UPAEP, delivered his first lecture to over two thousand attendees following his investiture on August 12. Using the parable of the talents as a foundation, Medina Delgadillo urged students to maximize the resources provided by the university to increase their capabilities and serve others.

He warned against the risk of “burying” talent by treating academic careers as mere administrative formalities or avoiding challenges for the sake of convenience. To illustrate the magnitude of human potential, he noted that the historical term “talent” referred to a weight of gold equivalent to over 91 million pesos today, according to Banco de México data.

Addressing modern technology, the Rector cautioned students against delegating their critical thinking to artificial intelligence. He stated that using machines without personal comprehension prevents the development of true capacity, advising students to use technology to reach further rather than using it to avoid thought.
